Biography
Kavita Ramamoorthy practises in all areas of intellectual property with a particular focus on pharmaceutical patent litigation including patent listing, validity and infringement cases. She has extensive experience with proceedings under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations and has appeared before the Federal Court of Canada representing various innovative pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Ramamoorthy has also advised on and managed the prosecution of patent applications in foreign jurisdictions in association with foreign associates and prepared and prosecuted trade-mark applications in Canada.
Her doctoral research, for which she was awarded the Hoffman-LaRoche Society of Toxicology Graduate Student Fellowship, focused on the estrogenic activity of various man-made organochlorines such as PCBs, dioxin and pesticides.
Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Dr. Ramamoorthy practised at a leading intellectual property boutique.
